Northern Lights Collection

Nortern Lights Collection

The Northern Lights Collection consisted of 99 individual toned Morgan Dollars as well as a Capital Plastics set of 5 raw coins and was sold by Legend Auctions in a series of 5 Regency Auction sales in 2016 and 2017 (as well as a sixth auction in 2019 which featured the raw set). The incredible collection featured coins from other famed collections, such as the Sonnier Collection, Lloyd Cowle Collection, Stack's 57th Street Hoard, Battle Creek Collection, Sunnywood/Simpson Collection, and others. Together, the entire group of coins brought an astounding $757,301 together with the set, with the most valuable coin selling for $61,687.50, a record breaking price that still stands today as the most ever paid for a common-date toned Morgan at auction. Below you can find all the coins as well as their hammer prices in the order that they appeared in the auctions.

Battle Creek Collection

Battle Creek Collection

The Battle Creek Collection a group of beautifully toned Morgan Dollars discovered in several original $1,000 U.S. Treasury bags from Battle Creek, Michigan when they were opened. Of the 10,000 coins in the hoard (the majority of which were blast white), 1,606 were graded by NGC under the Battle Creek Collection pedigree, 1,359 of which also received a star designation for outstanding eye appeal (mostly for color but also for PL exceptional surfaces). The NGC graded coins were sold in a series of four main auctions and one supplementary auction by Superior Galleries in 2005 and 2006. The group of coins had grades ranging from 'Brilliant Uncirculated' to a sole MS67, and the record price paid for a Battle Creek Morgan at the original auction was $12,650. Below is just a small selection of some of the top coins from this amazing collection.
